Guatemala City Guatemala is a busy city and a good base to visit some of the nearby Volcanoes and the city itself has a few museums and churches which can be visited. Antigua One of Guatemala’s most popular destinations, Antigua is a lovely town nestled between three volcanoes and features cobblestone streets, beautiful colonial architecture and churches. Considered the cultural centre of Guatemala there is also a lot of day trips available from Antigua.
Flores/Tikal Flores is a beautiful small island village on Lake Petén Itzá in the Peten region. As well as being a base to visit the Peten region it is the main base to visit the amazing Maya site Tikal, which is surround by jungle. Lake Atitlan Lake Atitlan is often referred to as the most beautiful lake in the world and its beauty does not disappoint. One of the most visited sites in Guatemala the lake is home to lots of Maya villages where you can visit the local people and view the crafts they make. A great base to visit the famous Chichicastenango Market, a beautiful colourful market, selling flowers, handicrafts, fruits and native foods. |
