Argentina

Argentina is a land of endless possibilities with the most amazing natural wonders such as Iguazu Falls, beautiful cities and towns such as Buenos Aires, Mendoza, El Calafate and Bariloche and the beautiful people who make you never want to leave. Argentina has widely varying climates, from the scorching sub-tropical summers in the North to the freezing gale force winds in the South. The country is fantastic for adventure travel, from the thrilling ski slopes in Bariloche to the incredible trekking in Torres Del Paine to 4*4 Safari in Parque Nacional Iguaçu Argentina is an adventure travellers dream. For The more relaxed person there is Argentina’s magnificent wine regions, the better known being the Mendoza Wine Region. Buenos Aires Buenos Aires is the Capital and largest city in Argentina and currently the second largest metropolitan area in South America, after Sao Paulo, with a population of around 3 million. It is considered the wealthiest city in South America and the Southern Hemisphere. Places to Visit in Buenos Aries The city is steeped in culture and sometimes referred to as the Paris of South America. One of the world’s greatest Opera houses “The Teatro Colon” is situated in the city. It is currently closed due to renovations but is re-opening in 2010. Buenos Aires has a world famous Zoo situated in the middle of the city and numerous museums dedicated to nature, history, all of the arts, theatre and popular music. The Tango which was born in the suburbs is synonymous with the city. If visiting, catching a Tango show and a world renowned steak is a must, or for the more adventurous why not try your hand at some tango lessons. Another must see for the discerning traveller is the Recoleta Cemetery in the affluent area of Recoleta in Buenos Aries. This truly magnificent cemetery is a maze of tombs and crypts and is the final resting place of Argentina’s beloved Maria Eva Duarte Peron better known as “Evita”. Iguazu Falls With it’s over 275 individual waterfalls, Iguazu was on the shortlist for the new 7 wonders of the natural world. For anyone travelling to Argentina, visiting the Parque Nacional Iguazu should be at the top of you list. The falls are a wonder that really have to be seen to be believed. The park is on the boarder between Brazil and Argentina. The falls are split in two with one side on the Brazilian side and the other on the Argentine side. You can view the falls in one day but we would advise you do it over two days so you really get to experience how truly amazing they are. You can stay in either Brazil or Argentina as it is easy to move between the countries when you are there. We recommend the helicopter flight over and around the falls. You take this from the Argentine side and it is very reasonably priced for a great experience.
